Make Space

MAKE’s purpose was to embrace the skills and talents of those who live and work in Somers Town and the wider Camden area. Its aim was to engage with local issues and tackle social challenges through creative means. It offered hands-on creative workshops and participatory projects that promoted creativity, cooperation and knowledge-sharing. Learning together by doing together.

MAKE’s programmes at the Story Garden ran until the end of July 2025. We are currently in the process of moving materials/equipment alongside working on the programme. We are hoping to continue running programmes at the learning hub at the Somers Town Community Centre soon.

Story Garden

MAKE @ Story Garden was developed by Somers Town Community Association, in collaboration with Central Saint Martins and Camden Council. MAKE was based in the Story Garden.

The Story Garden served as a green oasis at the British Library in Somers Town, and brought the local community together over food growing, communal meals, shared stories and creative activities and workshops. Its programmes will run until the end of September 2025.

Everyone at STCA and the Living Centre are grateful to all that were involved in the MAKE @ the Story Garden from design, inception to delivery and use. From the facilitators, to the tutors, to the volunteers, to the participants, to the visitors, and to the members of the Somers Town community and its surrounding areas, thank you. We have nothing but appreciation for those that made it happen and have worked tirelessly to make it the special place it has been. It has been an amazing journey so far and we look forward to what the next chapter brings.
